First, gently clear the gaps between the paving stones of any weeds and other small bits and pieces. Then, you can either plant those lovely little potted thyme plants straight into the spaces, leaving a few inches between each one, or scatter thyme seeds—mixed with sand, of course—into the cracks. Gently cover the seeds with soil and keep them moist until they sprout.
